In the last ten years, research on anxiety
disorders has started to compile evidence to suggest an association between
anxiety disordered parents, their parenting style and child anxiety problems.
Lately one group of researches has speculated that if parenting styles were
part of the mechanism for transmission of anxiety disorders, then over
controlling and less warm parenting styles would be more prevalent amongst
anxiety-disordered parents (Lindhout
et.al 2006). The emotional climate in families with an anxious parent
differs significantly from families without an anxious parent.
