Empowerment is not directly apparent, and it may be valued differently depending on the subjective views of individuals. In this study, the procedure takes on, is rural women’s perceptions of their own situation to accurately capture rural women’s empowerment. For example, if they believe that they do not have any part in decision-making in the household, they will most likely not participate in household decisions, even if other members of the family believe that the woman has a part to play.
