This paper attempts to analyze status of women and empowerment in India and highlights the issues and challenges of women empowerment. today the empowerment of women become one of the most important concerns of 21st centuries.

Happiness is pursued as an ultimate aim, but its conception is quite diverse in philosophical theory. The role of Buddhism in adding deep cognitive meaning to happiness, as relief from suffering due to the elimination of desire and attachment, must be noted. In contrast to this concept, happiness in the contemporary West refers to subjective well-being and satisfaction of individual desire. The paper discusses the Buddhist vision of happiness and explores in what ways the introduction of Buddhist insights into contemporary philosophical thinking may help to transcend some grave shortcomings of contemporary philosophical accounts of well-being. A critical review of the literature is done, where over peer-reviewed studies and authoritative texts compare Buddhist teachings with modern theories.
