his study examines the representation of female legacy in Indian English fiction, focusing on how women writers articulate intergenerational narratives that challenge patriarchal norms. Through a critical analysis of selected works by Manju Kapur and Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni, the research explores themes of inheritance, identity, and resistance. Using feminist literary criticism and postcolonial theory, the paper highlights how storytelling becomes a tool for reclaiming women’s histories and transmitting matrilineal knowledge.
